ABOUT TURN ON THE SUN

The Turn on the Sun program has recently been announced in Saskatchewan, and runs until the end of 2010.  The program provides a direct price discount for up to 200 residents installing a solar water system to heat their domestic hot water.

Turn on the Sun can be combined with other grants & incentives available to Saskatchewan home owners, such as the EnerGuide program.  The combined saving often account for over 50% of the solar water heater's installed cost.

Significant funding for Turn on the Sun is provided by Natural Resources Canada through their ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat pilot project.

PARTICIPATION

To participate in Turn on the Sun, home owners are encouraged to contact the program installer.  Note that although funding is currently available, there are both time limits and total number of install limits under this program.

The program is set up to be easy and effective for the homeowner to use, with typical incentives in the $1300 - $1700 range.  The home owner is not required to pay administrative or inspection fees to participate in the program, and this program can often be used in conjunction with the $1500 EnerGuide grant available to Saskatchewan home owners installing a solar water heating system.
